10 Year Reunion!

Hi Davis Alumni!

First, thank you to Amanda for getting this blog started and letting me post some details about the reunion!

Joe, Lauren, and I are planning our 10 year reunion! Right now we have a tentative plan set for Saturday, June 26th, 2010. We will be having a dinner at the Davis Conference Center in Layton. We will have more details to come, but please be thinking about whether or not you can/want to come.

What we need now: your info. Please send the following information to davishigh2000@gmail.com:

*Your name (maiden and married, if applicable)
*Your e-mail address
*A Yes/No for the reunion

We will be sending ALL information, invitations, etc. via e-mail and would like an address for everyone. We will keep posting info on the blog and facebook, but not everyone looks at either of those and we'd like a reliable e-mail address for as many people as possible. If you are checking this blog and reading this message, please let anyone you still keep in contact with know about it. Especially with the holidays here, we know many people will be catching up with each other. Please pass this on!

As soon as we get a good start on contact info, we'll be listing people we still haven't found and asking for your help. Also, if you would like to send an update about you and what you've been up to the past 10 years, please send it to Amanda at amandaarmstrong82@gmail.com. She's been putting together a blog that you can look at here.

Thanks for your help!

Adoption Fundraiser Photo Shoot

Adrianne Jacobsen sent me the following:

I am sending you this because this is a girl we went to school with (Brittany Tanner, now Lisonsbee), and she does photography. She adopted a little girl two years ago then about four months ago had a baby girl. Now the birth mother of her first daughter is going to have another baby in December and wants Brittany to adopt this little one. She is going to have fundraiser photo sessions to help pay for the adoption. Anyone that needs some pictures taken, here is a great opportunity and a good deal! Thanks!!--Adrianne Jacobsen

Breck (Yates) Croxford Baby Shower

Breck Yates and Preston Croxford are having their first baby in November! They are being daring and not finding out the sex of the baby. In October, Kate (Anderson) Holmes threw her a babyshower and a lot of Davis Alum from our class were there. Both Breck and and her husband Preston are both Davis High 2000 graduates! It was held at Kate's house on Oct. 17 and their baby is due the day after Thanksgiving. Congratulations!

Thanks Kate for emailing!

Homecoming

(Take a look at the score!!!)

From Matt Klein:

My dad was out of town for the Homecoming Assembly so I was my sister’s escort for both assemblies. Caroline and I went to the football game on Friday to see her go out on the field (my dad was back for that). Davis played Layton and we killed them! I enjoy football a lot more now – especially since we didn’t necessarily win very much when we were in high school. Here’s a few pics of us at the assembly and the football game.
Anyone else go to the game? Send me pics!!

4th of July

Amanda,
I've attached some pictures from the 4th of July. There is a picture of me with my daughter Mckynlee and then a picture of my 3 kids Brock, Mckynlee and Daxton. Both these pictures are at the parade. We have a friend that bought the old house that used to be an antique shop right there next to Barnes Bank so we sat on her lawn. I hadn't been to the parade in years, and have missed it. So I talked my husband into going, who is very anti-parades, and he actually enjoyed it, though he did think it was too long. I can't believe how big it has gotten. When we were in high school they just thew candy and now my kids were getting balloons and toys. My mom even caught a big teddy bear for my daughter. It was a lot of fun and I wish I had walked around so I could see more people I knew. I loved how perfect the weather was. Usually its so hot at the parade, but the weather was just right. It's not often we are there for the fourth since we live in California. I'm so glad we could make it. In California we aren't aloud to do street fireworks, so my kids love when we come to Utah for the 4th so they can do that. We also went to the Davis fireworks. Besides the technical difficulties I thought they were really good and thought it was cool they added music, I don't know how long they have been doing that. But it was a first time for me. My kids really enjoyed it, even my baby loved it. Anyways, I think its great that your keeping on top of this blog.

Thanks,

Niki (Voorhees) McDowell

Thanks for reading Niki!

4th of July

As I've been surfing the blogs (a little blog stalking too) and catching up on Facebook, I realized how many alumi return to Kaysville for the parade and/or fireworks each year. I also realized how big the parade has gotten and how many people are there, that I probably know, and didn't see. If you went to the parade and/or the fireworks, send me a pic! I'd love to share them!

REUNION IS IN THE WORKS!!!

If you read the previous posts comments, Stacie (Molyneaux) Pettingell has contacted me. We are going to have a reunion! Please get all DHS 2000'ers to add me on on facebook or add at least to the DHS 2000 group, or to this blog. As soon as I find out what information we will need to collect from you (aka address, ph #, email, etc.) I will ask you to get that to me so we can start to find all of our classmates. In the mean time, seriously I'm out of topic ideas! Someone please help! Have a business to promote? Have an event you would like to share? Email me!!

Really --- any updates on a reunion?

If you've been following the DHS 2000 wall on facebook, there hasn't been any contact from the senior officers who are usually charged with organizing a reunion. And we are now a year away from reaching 10 years. With that being said, really, we need to get an idea of how many people would want to come. And that includes some financial input. Please add your comments to this post, and please get as many Class of 2000'ers to email me and get added to the list. Also, join the Facebook DHS Class of 2000 for updates as well. Thanks Amber Greenwood for setting that up.

Let's start a "Where are they now" post section. Email me a few paragraphs about where you've been since high school (and a pic of course) and I will post them! Can't wait to see where you've been! amandaarmstrong82@gmail.com

On the left, there are two polls: would you come to the reunion? and how much would be willing to pay? Please take a sec to answer~

PS If you know where the officers are and how to contact them, let them know about this website! (Stacie Molyneaux, Lauren Christopher, Joe Olson)

In Memoriam

Jordan Kimball Fowers 1982 ~ 2006
I'm not sure how many of you know, but Jordan Fowers passed away on January 13, 2006. It struck me deeply when I saw his obituary in the paper. I knew him since elementary school, although we were not close in high school. I always knew he was special, and obviously he was needed in heaven. I feel honored to have known him. He has a website if you would like to share any memories or pictures with his family and friends. Click here.

His family has also set up the "Jordan Kimball Fowers Memorial Scholarship Fund " at BYU in his memory. This scholarship will assist students from Mexico or other Latin countries. FOr more info, click here.

Obituary
(as published in the Deseret Morning News and Salt Lake Triburne on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 )

One of the world's great stripling warriors left this earth to fight the good fight on the other side. Jordan Kimball Fowers passed to his next estate on January 13, 2006, due to complications from open heart surgery, with his family and dear friends by his side. Jordan was born on a sunny day, September 23, 1982, in Murray, Utah. He is the son of Lawrence "Sam" and Jana Larson Fowers.

He brought immense joy to his family and we rarely saw him without a smile on his face. He grew up in Farmington and one of his greatest delights was to run through the hills of that beautiful town. He graduated from Davis High School with a perfect 4.0, giving his all to his schooling, and the drum line of the Davis marching band. He then went on to BYU with a full scholarship for three years, interrupting his studies with a two year mission for the LDS Church to Chihuahua, Mexico. He loved his mission, the Mexican people, and serving the Lord. While attending school fulltime he sang in the BYU Men's Chorus, taught Spanish at the Missionary Training Center and worked in the Provo Temple. All of these experiences gave him great joy.
Jordan is adored by his family consisting of his parents, his brothers and sisters: Risa and Jeremy Karras of Des Moines, Iowa; Brandon and Shannon Fowers of Yorba Linda, California; Brittany and Brian Conde of Seaside, Oregon; Katie and Sean Dickson of Layton, Utah; Summer and Tyler Barrett of Cameron Park, California; Jillian and Andrew Cluff of Clinton, Utah; Karley Fowers and Hunter Fowers of Farmington, Utah; his seven nieces and nephews, his grandmother, Jeanne Larson Hatch of Mesa, Arizona; and hundreds of cousins, aunts, and uncles. He has joined his angel grandparents: Rolf Larson, E. LeRoy Hatch, Wilford and Irene Fowers.

Jordan kept numerous earthly journals, and every page contains his testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and of the restored gospel. Now we understand why he needed only a short time to complete his mission on this earth. The last week of his life as he prepared for the heart surgery, he spent his days also preparing to leave us. He read extensively in the scriptures, visited every day with friends and family, sang hymns with gusto, and went to the Holy Temple. His whole life was dedicated to the Savior and to making others happy. He was so well prepared that all the fasting and prayers of hundreds could not keep him here. Each day will take us further from our grief at the separation, and, hopefully, bring us closer to the Lord and to the time when we will see Jordan again.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at the Farmington 14th Ward, Steed Creek Chapel, 347 S. 200 W., Farmington, Utah. Friends may call at the Russon Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, and on Saturday 9-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Farmington City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the General Missionary Fund.

"O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!"
